Frankfurt Fashion Week: Reimagining the Future of Fashion

“After all, fashion should not only look good, it should also do good." Günter Sautter, Deputy Permanent Representative of Germany to the UN

As a lead organizer of the Frankfurt Fashion Week (FFW), Messe Frankfurt is advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the fashion industry in collaboration with the UN Office for Partnerships (UN Partnerships).

One of Messe Frankfurt’s commitments is to ensure that by 2023 all exhibitors at Frankfurt Fashion Week align themselves with the SDGs, in particular those that are most relevant to their work and operations. In addition, by 2025, Messe Frankfurt’s Texpertise Network will integrate the SDGs in each of the Network's 58 annual textile events, which  involves 23,000 companies in 100 countries.

During the Frankfurt Fashion Week in July 2021, the Conscious Fashion Campaign, in collaboration with UN Partnerships, launched the first annual Frankfurt Fashion SDG Summit. As one of the Week’s highlights, this virtual event brought together leading industry stakeholders, United Nations representatives and public officials for the first SDG Summit at an international fashion week.

Frankfurt Fashion Week and the SDG Summit offer an invaluable platform to inspire innovation and sustainable solutions in the fashion industry,” said Annemarie Hou, Executive Director of the UN Partnerships. “With all of us working together, we can promote responsible production and consumption practices.”
