Keeping the Promise for the Sustainable Development Goals
“We all belong to our human family in this world. Now it is time for leaders, governments, businesses, cities, communities, and each of us to keep the promise of the SDGs for all of us and future generations."
To accelerate engagement and action on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the United Nations Deputy Secretary-General launched a new social media campaign, ‘Keeping the Promise for the SDGs’.
Keeping the Promise is a result of the collaboration between the UN Department of Global Communications and the UN Office for Partnerships (UN Partnerships).
This action-driven campaign calls on people to commit to what they believe in — be it ending discrimination, promoting girls' education, advocating for universal health coverage, cutting food waste or reducing their carbon footprint.
By focusing on three levels of engagement — international, local and individual — the campaign aims to:
- ensure greater leadership, more resources and smarter solutions for the SDGs,
- strengthen Governments’ commitments to the promises that were made at the adoption of the SDGs,
- mobilize constituencies to demand ambition, accountability and action from the grassroots up,
- create a sense of solidarity in achieving the SDGs.
As of today, more than 130,000 people across the globe have posted their SDG promise.
