UN fashion event: Industry leaders to call for sustainability progress
Industry advocates will include Steven Kolb, Chief Executive Officer of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), Native American Fashion Artist Jamie Okuma, and Omoyemi Akerele, Founder and CEO, Lagos Fashion Week.
Senior UN voices speaking at the event will include Annemarie Hou, Executive Director at the United Nations Office for Partnerships; Beate Andrees, Director of the International Labour Organization for the UN; and Isabella Marras, Senior Programme Management Officer for Interagency Affairs at the United Nations Environment Programme.
Mindful of the fashion and lifestyle sector’s significant impact on societies and the environment, the meeting will review the sector’s progress in mobilizing expertise, innovation, technology, and resources towards achieving a more just and equitable future for all.
The key objective of the event is to explore how initiatives are fostering transparent, inclusive, and transformative engagement of global stakeholders guided by the Sustainable Development Goals.
The United Nations Conscious Fashion and Lifestyle Network is an online platform hosted by UN DESA, and co-led by UN Partnerships, which showcases and enables collaborations that accelerate the implementation of the Goals.
